My pick for news story of the day

NMSU scientists to study horse saddles <~~Click

Some excerpts:

The school is conducting the first scientific study of western saddles. Researchers are using a pad with sensors to map out the pressure levels different parts of the saddle put on the horse.

My take:
We've been riding horses for how many thousands of years?
The economy is in what kind of shape?
Where is this money for this study coming from please?
Does anyone really care?
Will it actually change anything?
How much will the 'new and improved' saddles cost and what
happens if no one has the money to pay for them because they
are TAXED OUT?
How do I get to be an 'expert'? Cuz that's what I want
to be when I grow up!

I would also like to point out how this state is millions
of dollars in the red, yet the governor's entertainment
budget is about three times that of last year's. Also their
House met recently about the deficit and proposed an immediate
tax on alcohol, cigarettes, soda and income to make up for it
all. The proposal failed however and instead the governor
has decided to slash the education budget, NM is already
48th in the ranks of education! Hmmmmmmm.

I love this

Think about it. Then again.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Expecting our first frost of the season tonite. Brought in the
one pumpkin still left on the vine. Also picked green peppers and
pulled the plants, and cut down the last peppermint bed.

There are GOOD things about cooler (ok colder weather):
1. No gardening.
2. No bugs.
3. No sweating.
4. It gets darker earlier.
5. A person can start making different things for dinner,
such as soups and chili.
6. Different wardrobe.
7. Hot chocolate is back!

Happenings!

We're all decorated for Halloween here. Now for the movies,
the junk food, the kids.....

Within a couple of weeks the leaves are really going to
be falling. Wah. Work!! And bare trees are depressing!

Good grief why am I reading anything today? I know two
people in the obituaries....one is a former employee,
the other a friend's wife.

I'm addicted to TV Land, and probably will be for the
winter. Everything from Roseanne, Gunsmoke, Bonanza,
even the Brady Bunch. MUCH better than current television!

Molly wearing a saree

Thanks Sunshine for the saree and all the fixings! It's
just gorgeous!! I know I probably did it all wrong, but
it sure took long enough, and I think it's beautiful!

Dinner!

Yep this is dinner.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.
Then who knows for a snack???
Maybe a hot bath??

On a footnote -
I hate liars on any level.
They go around door to door here from another city,
claiming they have meat leftover from an order, or
are trying to start up a route, and they can make
you a great deal. In reality they are selling substandard
crap.
So one such truck stopped here this evening. Told
me he was trying to start up a route. He happened to
have some meat in the truck he could make me a great
deal on. I asked to see his brochure - I mean, starting
up a route you need a brochure, right? He stammered
and stumbled and opened the truck door and then muttered
he only had one left and he needed it. I told him
thanks anyway. LOSER. If I knew he wouldn't flip
out on me I'd call him a liar to his face.

What's this box for?

Those that know me know I am not a tv watcher.
I barely can turn on the satellite.
I barely know how to change the channel.
Last night my son decided to sleep on the sleeper couch
in the living room. I sat in the chair and he fell
asleep. Clicking the channels, I discovered a
Roseanne marathon on TV Land. OMG the one show I will
watch forever is Roseanne! I watched several episodes
until about 1am. Giggled like I had never seen them
a thousand times before.

Today he had turned on the tv and left. It still was
tuned to TV Land. I never changed the channel. An
Officer and a Gentleman was on. Watched almost the
whole thing even though I had seen it before (I can't
say that about most movies)....cried at the right times,
cussed at the right times, laughed at the right times.
My channel is TV Land!

Speaking of tv, this afternoon hubby came home and
the networks weren't working on all 3 of the tv's
hooked up to satellite. The networks haven't worked
for days but it wasn't a concern of his until this
afternoon, as college football was on. OMG the
sky was falling!! Suddenly we needed the number
for Direct TV's customer service. "It's probably
on a bill" I say. "I didn't save a bill" he said.
I looked it up online. Right about the same time I
asked if he had rebooted the receivers. "Why would I
need to do that?" he asks. "Just try it" I say.
He does. They work. He was able to watch football.
It wasn't the end of the world, after all!

Oh Goody!!

I haven't turned on the tv in ages!!!
Trying to get some work done around here, and just happened
to turn it on...the Andy Griffith show is back to the 12:30pm
time slot! Yeah!! So much better than what they had on
before. Going to have to remember that - LOL.
(easily amused).

Ghosts

If someone tells me they don't have any experiences
with ghosts I would think they are lying. For some
the whole religious experience makes them feel ghosts
do not exist no matter what the experience. For others
they feel people will brand them as crazy to speak of
ghosts.
Everyone has a ghost story. Some just won't admit it
or they live in denial.

Yes I have ghost stories.

From the age of six until the age of about 12 I lived in
a huge old farmhouse. The upstairs was haunted. While
my own family never talked about it, I had friends that
went in to the house later after we had moved out, and
as adults they would tell me their stories and tell me
they were certain it was haunted. I had my own stories:
Things clanging, banging, the house shaking, animal noises
from a room (farm animals), stuff like that. Later on
the house was bought by the small town and torn down to
make way for a park.

As an adult I've had several encounters with ghosts -
people and animals who passed on and were trying to
connect one last time to me.....

*In 1988 my husband passed away. That night the dome
light to my car came on, and nothing could get it to
go off, until the electrical wires were disconnected.
A few months later on our wedding anniversary, the
wall clock suddenly stopped chiming, for 24 hours.

*In 2005 my young son and I were here in Missouri all
by ourselves, when my mother in law passed away (in
NM). At night I had a visitor - someone would make
animal noises by the one side of the bed, the only
side where a dog wasn't sleeping. Mind you I was in
the bed with my child, and no one else was in the house.
There was a vacuum sealed jar of pistacchios that was
taken off of the fireplace mantle and opened, the
nuts scattered all over the dining room floor. And
someone took my son's favorite cup and drank water
out of it, leaving the cup by the sink. Explain
away, naysayers, but I was there and you weren't.
This was all before mother in law's funeral. Scared
the crap out of me and I slept with the light on for
days!! And my young son was mad as a hornet that I
had drank out of his cup..'No son, that was Grandma,
coming to say good-bye.' (Wouldn't cut it, would it?).

*I had lost a dog and the days that followed, everytime
I'd go to the peppermint bed (very large and normally
all it ever smells like is peppermint) I would smell
her, very strongly. I cannot explain how one can
smell a dog, but I did.

*Crying over the loss of a couple of dogs one night
there were lights, bright lights, suddenly shining in
the living room. Only problem with that is we lived
on 12 acres, had a long driveway, and no matter how
you sliced it there was no way lights could ever be
shining in that window, which faced out to a pasture.

*Last year one of our dogs passed away and a day or
two later, upon entering a room, a music box suddenly
started playing. Coins would mysteriously show up
on the floor as well.

There are instances where people and animals pass away
and I get no signs of anything in the days after.
Some will try to come up with an explanation for every
event mentioned. But I'm a believer after the
mother in law incidents, a believer for sure. While
the thought of ghosts does scare the pants off of me,
I do think they are in their own way trying to say
good bye, and I do appreciate the fact that I was
thought of so to speak. I don't dwell or delve into
the supernatural, I don't go out seeking signs. And
I'm usually the last person on earth who notices
something peculiar!

r-r-r-amblings!

*I like this quote:
B who u r & say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.– Theodore Seuss Giesel

*I now am into tweeting, and it's fun! Great idea! I
especially like back tracking people's tweets and
finding out a bunch of stuff, then I move on like
a good girl :) Seriously people, maybe some of you
should reconsider what you put online about yourself!
There is no law against clicking and reading!!

*Welcome mystery reader! You will find no derogatory
posts in here about you, or anyone you know. No names
are mentioned, no venom unleashed. Kinda boring actually ;-)
I'm kind of a boring person, yeah I know. But that's not
for anyone else to worry about - I'm happy and that's
all that matters!! Anyone who thinks I'm posting about
them is just. Well. Dumb.

*Trying very very hard to get in the Christmas spirit.
Honestly how hard is it to fire a woman up about
spending money? I just cannot get into it, and I have
the feeling I am going to be very boring with gift
giving this year! How many Wal-mart gift cards can one
person give and get away with?

*I've put in my order for my b-day - I want flowers,
a seafood dinner (home cooked of course) and chocolate
cake for dessert. If you don't understand please refer
back to the part where I'm boring and don't like to
spend money! Occasionally I like to spend money -
when I get in the mood I REALLY get in the mood!

*I'm finding it difficult to talk to some people - the
people I am referring to are the ones that are so
adamant in their conclusions yet have no earthly idea
what they are talking about, and the information they
pass on so strongly is all incorrect information.
Over the weekend someone was being mean and nasty
towards someone else and said that the person in
question cannot be fired because she is, quote, "
tenured by the federal governnment." HUH?
This person isn't even in the education field.
And when did the feds control tenure? And who
told this person this information, or did she just
make it up?? As I tried to correct her, she
adamantly told me I was wrong. Uhm, okay.
I feel if one is to speak strongly about a particular
subject they had better make sure the facts are
correct, otherwise you lose me.

Night night!

It's Gone

Despite suggestions to make a planter, a chair for the porch,
even a future headstone for hubby :)....the toilet (the old
cracked one) is gone off of the porch. We are 'normal' again - LOL!

One of THOSE days

This morning.
I woke up, I went to the bathroom. I got on the
computer with my coffee.
Heard some noise in the bathroom. Counted dogs...
all present. Ten minutes later more ruckus from
the bathroom. Huh?
Went to investigate.
Water seeping out of a crack in the toilet tank.
Crack???
Uh oh.

Turned water to tank off. Didn't help as the
crack is in the tank! Flushed twice. Still some
water in the tank but not much.

Called hubby. Told him I needed a good plumber
and asked him if he could recommend one - LOL.
He told me to call someone else!

I am not a paying customer, and there WAS another
toilet in the house, so about seven hours later
he came with a new toilet. BEFORE he could even
start to put it in toilet #2 plugged up and
wouldn't unplug even with A) Plungering it
several times or B) Snake (the plumbing kind).

Uh oh x 2!

He opted to work on toilet #1 and replaced it.
It's great!
I now have an old toilet on my back porch though - LOL.

Toilet #2 was put on hold for about 24 hours - LOL!

In other news:
Storms amounted to well, nothing tonite. All the
hoopla, for naught. My digi cam is awesome!
Has tons of capabilities and it's soooo small!
