You know, I think everyone who reads the story below
gets something different out of it. My first thoughts
were - 'If he were truly a trained AC officer he would
have known what to do to prevent the bear's death.'
Second thought is that some men really think women
are stupider than a box of rocks. That last thought
gets me to wander in my thinking about some stupid
men I have had the displeasure of knowing recently!
I think that guy's stupid ego played into this as well.
NEWSFLASH TO MEN ... LOSE THE EGOS!! ONLY THE 17
YEAR OLDS ARE IMPRESSED WITH WHAT YOU DO, THE REST
OF US WOMEN, THE ONES WITH IQ's HIGHER THAN 2,
ARE CONCERNED WITH WHAT KIND OF A PERSON YOU ARE, NOT
WHAT YOU DO FOR A LIVING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Better shut up now).

Dead black bear sets off strange series of events
A black bear in Espanola touches off an odd series of events leading to an animal control officer being arrested, accused of battering an underage girl.
There are four main characters in the story: A large black bear, an animal control officer, and his two unsuspecting girlfriends.
A nearly 400-pound black bear was high in a tree when Game and Fish shot it with a tranquilizer dart. The bear wound up falling and dying.
48-year-old Evaristo Lopez, an animal control officer on scene, asked if he could keep the bear's carcass.
The deputy chief of Game and Fish says at that point, everything was legal.
"Game and Fish can actually issue a permit to the person that may be involved in the bear's death, or finds it, or which ever— and in this case, it was one of our animal control officers who assisted in the transport of the bear." Later that evening, Lopez loaded his dead black bear into his pickup.
According to court documents, it was while he was driving around town with the dead bear hanging out the back of his flatbed, that his 17-year-old girlfriend started texting Lopez.
Lopez allegedly told his girlfriend he was on official bear duty.
Unaware that the underage girl was following his pickup, he made a stop at another girlfriend's house.
That's when she confronted him. Lopez also allegedly shoved the 17-year-old enough for Espanola police to arrest him for battery.
When questioned about his younger girlfriend's age, he was apparently aware.
"He did know in his own mind the actual age of the female, and did know that she was 17 years old."
Espanola police say they have put Lopez on paid administrative leave while they continue to investigate.
Lopez bonded out of jail for the count of battery, but detectives say they plan to soon file statutory rape charges.

Tell him Molly sent ya!
I love it when stuff like this happens. I
know someone who is extremely interested in the
history of the town from where I used to live.
She will be visiting that area in the upcoming
months, and is reading all the books she can
get her hands on of the area. Trinidad Colorado
has an extensive history behind it.
I am hooking her up with an old friend of mine,
a local of Trinidad who loves to talk of the
area's history. Someone who used to be in
charge of the county there, and is elderly now,
someone who would love to talk about the past.
I am getting to the age where I have friends
who can help friends. Friends that I may not
have been in contact with for years but I know
are there. Friends that will help when a stranger
says, "Molly sent me." What an awesome feeling!

Dancing in the rain
This past weekend I learned a few things.
I learned that if you go away for four days you
will have the equivalent of three weeks of laundry
to do when you get back. I learned the true
definition of sleep deprived. I learned there
are some truly wonderful people out there. I
learned that I have support from people I didn't
expect to. I learned that there are very loud
trains, 15 minutes apart, in a small blurb in
northwest Indiana. I learned these trains like
to blow their horns loudly regardless of what
time it is.
I learned I gained a little ground in regard
to respect that I didn't have before, from
some people. I learned that some others have
the same sort of problems as I do, again in
regards to some people. I learned that
state highway 2 in northwestern Indiana will
never get finished with road construction.
I learned that a chocolate milkshake is a
really good substitute for a nutritious lunch.
I learned that there are many nice people in
the world. I learned that eating lots of hot
peppers and bratwurst can result in severe
indigestion for some people. I learned
that some people will never change, no matter
how much you wish they would. I learned
that an air mattress does not substitute for a
real bed. I learned Indiana can get some
pretty awesome thunderstorms too. I learned
that when you are dead tired you still can
go on another 3 hours or so socializing. I
learned to stay out of the way of poisonous
people. I learned that people can be very
understanding of a situation without me saying
a word. I learned how to eat every 15 minutes!!

The definition of Nuts
ME
That's the definition.
My life these past couple of weeks - absolutely crazy!!
Today it was load up the dogger and take him to the
vet's for a re-check. Then a stop with dogger and kid
at the pharmacy for some medication I didn't know was
needed until I was informed at about 11 pm the night
before. Then a trip to the store upon which I just
DUMPED the trash into one of their receptacles as I
was too stressed by that point to dispose of it the
normal way. All with dogger and kid in tow. The
highlight was vet was in a great mood and sat and
chatted and acted very kindly toward kid. You know
how some people are big on introducing themselves
as 'Hi, I'm DOCTOR so and so?' He was introducing
himself as, "Hi, I'm Dave*." I was
impressed. He's not hung up on some ego trip...so sick
of egos!!
Oh.
Then home. Home to finish the laundry, fill the
swimming pool, organize something for tomorrow,
answer phones, call people, pick veggies from garden,
prepare dinner. This week will end sometime!!

The Three S's
We discuss the concept of the Three S's often at our house.
I am reminded of it the past couple of days reading a NM forum.
It seems someone in NM (not sure where) shot and killed
a rattlesnake on his way to their henhouse. A 43 inch, 6 rattler.
This person has been given tons of grief for killing the snake
instead of relocating it.
Uhm.
(First off, the image of me trying to bag a rattler to relocate
it is just funnier than I ever could imagine. My odds of getting
bitten are astronomical. Also relocate it where? To the
neighbor's house? Oh they'll love you forever!!).
It is illegal to kill a wild animal (deer, bear, mountain lion,
elk, etc.) in NM unless you have the proper permit at hunting
season. There is no law against killing a rattler. At one
time I had a dead deer on our property. All NM deer belong
to the Game and Fish Department. They are supposed to investigate
any death (even natural causes). A bloody waste of taxpayer's
money at it's best. Meanwhile I had this dead deer - a deer that
would attract bear and goodness only knew what else. I called
Game and Fish. One warden lived just a couple of miles from
my house. "They'll be there shortly." They didn't show.
Called again. Same thing. Again. Same thing. I'm still
waiting for them to show to get the dead deer 14 years later!
After a day I called the poor dog warden. We lived in the
county but due to the extraterritorial zone he could come
2 miles outside the city limits to do something. He came
within five minutes and removed the deer.
I mentioned this story a few days later to the owner of the
local radio station, who was a neighbor. He looked at me
and replied, "Molly it's time you learned about the 3 S's."
"The 3 S's?"
"Game and Fish is a total waste. They don't want to do
anything. Plus they have the law on their side so we can't
do anything. The 3 S's stand for:
Shoot
Shovel
and
Shut Up."
I've never forgotten that. And I would have no problem
killing a rattler close to my house, my kid, or my animals.
While we do not have a deer, bear, or mountain lion problem
here in Missouri, there are those that have problems
with squirrels, and they employ the 3 S's! For the
record I do kill spiders and bugs, with no remorse :)
My son's cat takes care of the overpopulation of squirrels
and rabbits and rodents. As far as if I have ever killed
a rattler or any other poisonous snake, I'll plead the 3 S's :)

Quote of the Day
Quote of the day:
"Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. If you give her sperm, she'll give you a baby. If you give her a house, she'll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she'll give you a meal. If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her. So, if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of shit."

It's almost over!
...the week. Thankfully it's almost to an end!!
Sunday was a trip to town and mega cleaning the house.
Monday more mega cleaning and a trip to the vet.
Tuesday more cleaning and a trip to pick up my
doggy at the vet.
Wednesday was kind of quiet (?)
Thursday I finally got my driver's license
transferred to Missouri - I'm legal!! The lady
wanted me to fill out a welcome packet while I
was there - didn't want to tell her I'm going on
six years living here ;-) Also while the guys in
this household were traveling back home after a
trip, they blew a tire. Long story short the car
now has four new tires. With all that happened,
he didn't say anything about the vet bill - just
that Casey is part of the family, and we do
what we can do for our family. :) :) :) :)
Friday Our dogger is perking up and doing better.
He's ready to take on the world and the stitches haven't
healed yet, so it's getting to be a challenge.
But everyone is home safe and sound and that's
a great feeling! Another nutty week next week
but that starts on Sunday :)

Friendship
People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person..
When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support,
to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.
Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.
LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons,
things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson,
love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.
Thank you for being a part of my life,
whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.

Bartering in the Ozarks
The tree in the photo losing branches in January's
ice storm is dead. It died last fall. It is
leaning heavily towards the road and not the
house (thank goodness). We had plans to remove
it ourselves. Tonite a very nice young man
stopped by. He works for a tree service and
wanted to remove it for us. So me, knowing
nothing about trees, called my other half out.
Hubby goes out there and asks him how much.
The guy says for $400 he could cut down the tree,
chop it up, haul it away, poof gone. Tree no
more. Hey that sounded reasonable to me, I
thought it would have been more than that
actually! But hubby laughed at him. Said
"For $400 I'll go cut down trees." The guy
immediately dropped his price to $200 :-0
Hubby pressed on. The guy went to $150, but
no cutting up or hauling away at that price.
We got the name and number of the tree service
and will probably have them do the work for
$200. Just as soon as we make sure they are
insured, as the guy himself is the one that
climbs the trees to cut them limb by limb down.
Soon no more dead tree or thinking about
it every time there is a nasty storm! :)

Blings
Gawd I love the people I can trade 'blings' (insults, I made
up the word) with. It takes a special person to be able to
do that, and you know you are soul friends when it happens.
I have 2 people in my life I can fling some blings with, there
used to be 3 but sadly one of them died. The last
conversation I had with the one that passed away a year
ago went something like this: him - "Hey Molly you
look really fat in that shirt." me - "I hate you." ~smack
in the arm~
The other two people I can do it with - one is in professional
sports. This was the start of the phone conversation the last time
we talked -
"Hey Molly this is Don*"
"Who?"
"Don, you know...Don"
"I don't know any Don, sorry."
"This is DON DAMMIT!"
"Oh you mean Don?"
"Dammit Molly!"
"DON! You haven't changed a bit!"
And the third person is the president of a very powerful
national organization (see a previous post). Most people
know him as all wearing a suit and business like, I do
not. Our last phone conversation:
me - "Hello?"
him - "Who's this?"
me - "Who are you calling?"
him - "Well who is this?"
"Are you someone I should know?"
"Well I'm calling the ~insert last name~ residence."
"So?"
"Well who is this?"
"Who do you think it is?"
"Is your name Molly?"
"No"
laughing.

Slices of Life pt. 6
A doctor told me to buy a bag of Snickers - During my
Colorado days, I was getting a bit puny and run down. My
doctor told me to go buy a bag of Snickers, go home and
eat them! She didn't have to tell me twice :)
I broke a finger trying to 'rescue' a baby bird -
Last year. The finches here are constantly building nests
everywhere and having babies. One day I went out and
one baby was on the asphalt. Me being me, I got out the
big ladder and gloves. I scooped up the baby who was
as quiet as could be while we climbed the ten foot ladder.
Went to put him in the nest and he started freaking out!
Then his nestmates started freaking too. I tried to
just sort of fling him in, and in the process all heck
broke loose. TWO baby birds came falling out on my
head! I JUMPED off the ladder and landed on asphalt.
In the process I broke my finger and damaged some
tendons, the tendons I still have problems with. I
did my own therapy sessions with the finger or it
still wouldn't be bendable. OUCH! And no, I haven't
tried to 'rescue' a baby bird since!
I threw 2 very big, tattoed guys out of the shop -
In New Mexico, some really, really REALLY big dudes
came in a truck with a wench to repossess an
employee's pickup. They had already ticked me off
when they had gone to our house and snooped
around by the barns. I told them where the
employee lived and when he'd be there. Then I
followed them, unbeknownst to them, as they
drove to our shop and walked in. OH I WAS MAD.
I pulled in, flung open the front door, held the door
open, pointed my arm outside and yelled "GET OUT!"
Have I mentioned how big these guys were? They
put their heads down and quietly walked by me
out to their truck. As they were walking out I
was yelling at them, as they were trespassing
twice on my property. I was so mad by that
time if one of them would have said a word
I would have jumped him (yeah not the smartest
when I'm angry). Husband was out of town
that day (figures). They did go repossess employee's
truck later that day at his residence, not my problem!

Weight control and diet
Oh what a fun subject - NOT.
A bunch of us were talking about weight control and diet.
What we're doing right and what we're doing wrong.
This was brought about by this article:
Baseball Fans Are Warned About Hot Dog Consumption
People, us smokers have warned you about this for
years, and most of you just blew us off. They've taxed
and regulated ciggies into the ground, fat is next!
I REALLY take pity on you if you are an overweight
smoker! Republican or democrat it doesn't matter -
start voting out incumbants until this country gets back
in track!!
I digress. Let me get back to the subject at hand.
I weigh 125, and I'm 5'7". A good weight I'd say for me.
But in the summertime, spring, and fall it is a
struggle not to lose any weight. I realize not
everyone has this problem! During the springtime
I am busy with yard cleanup, and getting the garden
in shape. During the fall it is leaves, windows, and
other fall cleaning tasks that burn off energy. During
the summer I have the garden, plus all that heat and
sweating outside just burns off calories I think. I
was asked about eating habits and exercise to maintain
this healthy weight and keeping the body in shape.
So basically I'm not telling anyone what to do, but
rather sharing what I do and have done over the years:
First off I get plenty of exercise with the above mentioned,
plus daily year round I am outside for at least 1/2 hour,
rain or shine, briskly walking dogs all over the property.
This means up and down hills, over rocks, etc. I am
so not a paved road bicycle person! I'm not into
treadmills, working out, jogging or stair climbers.
Basically the only down time I have is when I am on
vacation somewhere. I can remember being sick and
missing about 3 walks in almost six years of living here.
As far as diet, where to begin....I have never really liked
food. Never developed much of a taste for things. I
was well into my 20s or 30s before I cared for pies, for
example. I do not make or cook a lot of things, because
I don't know how. The reason I don't know how is because
I never developed a taste for them so why learn? I
can recall making about 3 pies in my lifetime. Cakes
usually for special occasions only. I ONLY bake anything
else in December, before Christmas. I then bake
everything for the year.... it all goes in the freezer what
I don't use for the holidays. I don't know how to fry
very many foods - eggs, bacon, and potatoes are probably
it. I don't LIKE fried foods except the above mentioned.
I actually order my fish baked 99 times out of 100 at
a restaurant. I don't make fried chicken, and have no
clue how to make mashed potatoes (although I love both,
but because I don't know how to make them I don't
get them often).
We fix salads with almost every meal. We limit the
carbs. Even though I grow our own corn, we usually
break the ears in half and each eat half with dinner,
and that's it. No more than one carb with a meal
in most cases. Also we make almost everything from
scratch - no easy meal in a bag or box.
I do like junk food, and I don't fight the urge to deprive
myself, not by any means. I've gone years without
eating a potato chip, same with ice cream. My weakness
is cheese. But if I want a Dorito for example, I'll buy
a bag. I might eat the whole bag then buy another bag,
then eat two chips and the rest goes to waste. I've
gone days without chocolate, but I don't eat a lot at one
time when I want some. I won't deprive myself of a
donut either, but they are not bought very often.
I drink soda daily, and not that diet crap either. But
I usually limit my intake to half a can a day. Oh and we
never ever buy the low fat or no fat crap that is overpriced
and tastes like crap. If we want the food we buy it.
My dairy comes strictly from cheese consumption, with
occasional hot chocolates. I have to watch myself with
cheese very carefully! Salt - we do use salt. But not
with cooking. I personally add salt to eggs and to potatoes.
We use other spices generously.
I guess what I am trying to say is I pay attention to my
body. I think there are times we do need fat. Also there
are times we do need sugar. There are some meals where
I crave a boiled egg and peanut butter!
Oh and portions - I eat very small portions. If I don't finish
a meal at a restaurant too bad, I don't feel guilty. I eat what
I can and that is it. I actually do better with smaller frequent
meals than a big meal. But there are times when I go
many hours without eating, this is not necessarily a bad thing.
I personally feel that fasting sometimes does a body good.
Personally I don't like fast food. I can tolerate Sonic. Also
we are not pork eaters, with the exception of the occasional
bacon with breakfast, or pepperoni on pizza. McDonald's
to me tastes greasy and disgusting - heck it even smells
that way in the restaurant, and it is very hard for me
to even walk in the place.
Sometimes in the summertime when it's hot I don't feel
like eating during the daytime. When this happens I
drink Ensure to get adequate vitamins and calories.
I am not anal about any of the above, and I couldn't care less
about what someone else eats. I also do not believe for
one moment that health care costs would plummet if everyone
stopped smoking, drinking, and eating fatty foods. I
don't believe in telling anyone else what to do. Just sharing
what works for me to maintain my own weight. I try
very hard to maintain the weight I have, if I stopped eating
fat and sugar I really don't know where mine would
bottom out, possibly ten pounds less. That would put me
in a lower BMI and would render me unhealthy and in
the event of sickness or disease I would really be screwed.
I think we all need some padding in the event of illness!
A bunch of us were talking about weight control and diet.
What we're doing right and what we're doing wrong.

and regulated ciggies into the ground, fat is next!

Small town life
I've got the answer!
Have MJ's body mounted (think Roy Rogers and Trigger here).
Put it behind glass.
Open Neverland Ranch back up and charge some ridiculous
admission price. Each year give the proceeds to a different
greedy person who was in MJ's life and now wants a cut of the
money.
Problem solved.

Message to the media
Dear Media:
Perhaps I'm just in a crappy mood. I have pretty
much kept the tv off for awhile now, save for some
80's reruns, and I read news online. If it weren't
for some special people in my life I would probably
at this point turn the computer off too.
Is it absolutely necessary in the event of a tragedy
for every station to send a helicopter, reporters, etc.?
Couldn't you all just have one unbiased reporter who
can go get the story, and report back to the others?
Also today there are a couple of news stories that
I think are totally a waste of time. One is the
best place to sit to increase your odds of surviving
a plane crash. Now, I will be flying here in a few
months. But I don't care where I sit. I could
not get through the emotional trauma of the
aftermath of surviving a plane crash. Period.
So I would rather go out with a crash.
Secondly, Michael Jackson's will. Do any of us
really need to know or really care what he left in
his will? I am sure if my name is mentioned someone
will call me. And why is it news that he left his ex
wife out of the will?? My husband doesn't have
his ex wife named in his will! Why is this news
and especially headline material?
Thank you,
Molly

Why?
It's hard sometimes. I just do not
understand why people have to be the
way they are. As long as I don't know them
I accept it, but if I know them that means
I have put my trust and energies into the
relationship, and I don't get it. I don't get
why people feel the need to lie, to treat others
in their life like crap some times, nice others,
why they need to pretend to be something
they are not, why they sell out, why they're
shallow, and why they feel the need to treat
someone, anyone, with disrespect. And
what ever do they feel gives them the right
to even try to tell another how to live their
life or what to do? And judge, why is it up
to people to judge another? That isn't our job.
Wow that's a tall order. I just don't want anything
to do with phony people, with liars. Through
the years I have tried very very hard to keep
my integrity intact. I try very very hard to
lead a life that is honest and clean. I try to
not be judgemental, not be bossy, not be
demanding. I am who I am not matter who I
am around - and that is the honest to goodness
truth. I am not into political correctness, lying,
or hiding my true self. I am here, like me or not,
it really doesn't matter.
I believe the judging is not up to us, it is up to
a higher power. I believe pretending to be something
one is not, or selling yourself out, will get you nowhere.
That is why I absolutely do not trust anyone easily.
That is why it takes me a long time to feel respect
for someone. Then once I get there I am vulnerable
if that person is not what I believe them to be. How sad,
for me, not for them. They go on with life happy as
a clam, continuing the pattern. Their time will come,
only I will not be the one doing the judging.
Another thing that gets me - I am one of those that
says if we have an issue let's hash it out right now.
The childishness of people who are moody and
refuse to address the issue is pathetic. Get it out
in the open so everyone feels better, don't act like
you belong in grade school again. But sadly
over the years I have learned there ARE superficial
and hollow people in the world, and that to
some it DOES matter who you are and what
you can do for me, not what has been already
shared or once was.
I just chose not to be this type of person. I am who
I am and I don't care if I am the only one like me
left on the planet (I know I am not). The fault
lies with me sometimes for misjudging people as
being honest and sincere when all the signs are
there that they are anything but. I will learn
and try very hard not to make the same mistake
again in the future.
